What is TOPSoccer?
Founded in 2003, BSC TOPSoccer has had the joy of extending the sportsmanship, camaraderie and thrill of competition through soccer to hundreds of children with special needs. TOPSoccer stands for The Outreach Program for Soccer and is a national program created to give young people with differing abilities the opportunity to learn and play the game of soccer.
The goal of BSC TOPSoccer is to provide all players with physical or intellectual disabilities a place where they can safely participate and enjoy the game of soccer and to enable them to develop their physical fitness, technical skills, courage and self-esteem, through the joy and excitement of playing soccer.
The TOPSoccer program not only gives young athletes with differing abilities an opportunity to play soccer, it also gives them a renewed sense of accomplishment and self worth. As the season progresses, we see not only improvement in athletic ability and physical stamina but also development in emotional and social well being.
BSC TOPSoccer league is for children, teens & young adults with special needs. We have players in our program from all over the Metro area and surrounding Sarpy County, Cass County and Council Bluffs areas.
TOPS soccer groups players by ability so that the best possible experience is available for our players. Players wear soccer uniforms, play on soccer fields with nets/goals and Soccer Buddies are available for players that need assistance.
Our League plays in both the Spring and the Fall. We meet one time a week on Sunday afternoon, practice 30 minutes followed by a 30 minute game.
Our games are a lot fun! Modifications are made to the game when necessary to allow full participation and enjoyment to each player. One-on-one assistance is available to those who need it from TOPSoccer Buddies. TOPS offers a recreational, leisure approach to the game of soccer.
The safety of our players and fairness of the games are the overriding principals that dictate placement. Athletes are placed on teams based on ability. Age and size are also taken into consideration. Players who dominate their division will be moved up to allow everyone to play at their full potential.
